Bucs offer Darius Thompson, 6’3″ SG

According to Rivals, the Bucs have offered 6’3″ shooting guard Darius Thompson.  Several teams have already offered Thompson (see link below), including hometown MTSU. The Bucs will graduate 3 shooting guards following the 2012-13 season–Sheldon Cooley, Jarvis Jones, Marcus Dubose–so Thompson could help fill a need at off-guard.

The son of a college coach, Darius Thompson is a smooth 6-foot-3 shooting guard with a feel for the game on the offensive end. He never has to waste dribbles, is a very good jump shooter and has the athleticism to get out and finish on the break. Thompson is built a bit slightly and has to get stronger, but he looks as if he would be a heck of a catch for programs such as Middle Tennessee State,Richmond, Tennessee State, Furman, East Tennessee State, Presbyterian, Drake and Stony Brook, which have offered. More recently, Boston College and Minnesota have expressed interest.

I was able to find only limited footage of Thompson:

  1. Maxpreps lists last season stats:

Bucfaithful’s link shows a number of midmajor offers, including Richmond, Middle Tennessee, Furman and Drake. Interest, but no offers, noted from Minnesota and BC.

His AAU team is the Team Nashville basketball club. Their website notes the increasing offers, but also notes his slight build and need to get stronger.
This picture at Team Nashville shows what they mean.
